step 1: realizing you have a problem

there is a reason I have not picked up my camera in ages, but that storm cloud that consistently follows me around has taken away all my light.  and then that a-ha hits ... why in the world would I want to document this season of my life?  the IT, the problem, seems to be this certainty of the unexpected, of the stress, of that depressive cloud that I pretend is not there.  I don't have IT all together.

its so ugly.
with a dash of optimism, but little hope.
where my smile is forced because 2 little somebodies are watching.

I'm not in a total slump.  I do smile naturally still.  I have my kids; we have cozy beds & food in the fridge. there are of course many things to be thankful for, and I can name them all.

going through the motions of everyday life, when emotionally you want to cry every last tear and then scream as loud as you possibly can, it a difficult task most days.  do you know this feeling?

having these 2 littles are motivation enough.  they are worth it all, without a doubt.
intellectually I can tell you that that alone is enough to pick up the camera.  my ugliness should not/does not take away from them being the silly & cute kids they are and that I ought to taking pictures of that silliness & cuteness.  right?  right?!
but emotionally, its just plain difficult.  I carry my camera around with me, and usually come home realizing I still didn't take one.  and its a digital!  its not like its a waste of film anymore.

so, it just is what it is right now.  its a bummer, but somehow although I'm the only one to change it, I cannot.  its a strange place to be in.

You Capture - Pretty

when one becomes a good photographer, do pictures even need a caption?
I'm not claiming to be there yet or anything, I'm just asking.

Fingerprint Friday

I haven't been on for awhile.  drama life is in full swing.
so I thought I'd come back alive, using a photo carnival/meme/thingy ... whatever they are called.

Fingerprint Friday is a reminder that what God has created, is all around us.  literally, all around.  what stands out to you?  join us HERE, at The Rusted Chain to see what others see, and of course, leave comments.  we all love comments!

I can't help but envision God at work when I am outside.  when I am in nature, I see so much perfection, and its practically thrown in my face (in a good way!) that there is NO WAY it was accidental.

these pictures of taken in SoCal.  I am currently not in Hawaii, where everything [in nature] is more than perfect in paradise.  but there are beautiful things here too, of course.

April showers bring May flowers ... that transition from winter to spring is a strange time.  just when you think spring is here, it hails.  what?!

a baby, about to bloom.  so pretty.

after the rain.

it blows my mind how this cycle continues.
spring, life.
summer, growth.
fall, change.
winter, peace.

EVERY SINGLE detail has been thought of.  has been planned.  and its taken care of.
now tell me, if its not God, who is it?!

no, don't answer that.  I'm not looking for another answer.

enjoy and be aware of your surroundings.
happy friday everyone!

I love how ferns unroll like this to grow
details such as this, reminds me of what goes into creating something

whether its
the garnish on your dinner plate for better presentation
a painters way of signing their work
the way music is composed
or for me, the way a room is designed

or for our Creator
the specifics that make up each of us, let alone the plants and animals too

its in the details.
be aware of the details surrounding you
they are important to everyday miracles

what reminds you of our Creator in your everyday life?

joy of LUCK: Green

Happy St. Patty's Day!
growing up, I remember my mom making corned beef & cabbage ... I still don't like cabbage.  and of course, you HAVE to wear green or you get pinched ... still don't really understand that one, but ok.

picture-wise, this is as green as I could get today ...

enjoy!

joy of LUCK: Gift

this is my gift ...

today it is.
to me.  to my kids.
pancakes are the yummiest for breakfast, don'tcha think?!

but really, it is a gift, a privilege, a blessing to have a fridge full of food.  some days its taken for granted, but luckily, I have my sweet Elliott is thankful for full bellies; every night before bed he prays about this.

I am participating in another photo meme/mini class of sorts.   these are fun.  I'm doing my best to do it regularly since its helping me to use my camera more often.  one of my new years resolution was to do just that.  I enjoy it.  if you would too, join me!  click the link below.

future pilot?

I found this meme this morning, and coincidentally, I had been looking through some older photos just the other day.
I have many favorites, but this one has to be in my top 5!

this is my second son Elliott.
this picture is from the fall of 2008, he is 6ish months old.
clearly, he is not a fan of flying!

here he is today.  almost 3 years old.
if you took him "flying" again, he'd scream with joy!

Visit Yellow Songbird for more photos!

the joy of love: 01

look what I'm doing ...

was one of your new years resolution to use your camera more, like me?
this is a great way to explore and learn what your camera can do.
its not too late to join!
